Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu has reacted after the Constitutional decision to bring down the Law on the Bureau for Verification and Confiscating Unjustified Riches, writes Periscope.

Under the leadership of the Ministry of Justice, as one of the highest priority issues of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, along with field experts, former Strasbourg Court judges, in full co-ordination and with the Country Commission, we have completed the Law for the Bureau for Verification and Confiscation of Unjustified Riches in response to the phenomenon that has eroded the public property of the top public official for years.
In order for everything to be within the EU's highest principles and standards, we have authorized each recommendation of the Council of Europe's highest institution, such as the Venice Commission.
Despite that, The PDK sent this bill to the Constitutional Court to block and sabotage our justice reform as one of our two main priorities, to delay the seizure of unwarranted property. The reasons for this are already clear to all.
On the other hand, it took the Constitutional Court 16 months to assess the compliance of the Law for the State Bureau for verification and confiscation of unwarranted property. After 16 months, we realized today that the Law has been declared invalid. Five judges of the total 9 decided that the most important Law under the package against corruption and misuse of official duty was to declare it invalid.
The situation for us is very clear, the will of citizens for justice is trying to be overthrown by a handful of people who still serve and owe old nomenclatures, but our struggle for reform and rule of law will not stop. The Bureau will be done. Wasted and absorbed public wealth will be confiscated. Popular will will live.
