Kosovo's chief speaker, Glauk Konjufca, has said that in the political, geopolitical and security circumstances in which Europe is located today, the European Parliament elections are more important than ever.
According to Konjufca, these elections are historic, as they will be able to deteminate the future of the EU perhaps even in the decades ahead.
He calls on Albanians who are eligible to vote in EU countries to come out to vote for pro-European parties.
Konjufca in particular calls on exiles to vote on Albanian candidates.
The “in these elections will not only yoke the representatives of citizens of member states in Parliament, but will also prove Europe's determination to protect its final values, which today are threatened directly by the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Therefore, these elections are historic elections and will be able to determine the future of the EU, perhaps even in the coming decades. A unique European Union in protecting the values of freedom, equality, democracy and the dignity of peoples and states will be the strongest weapon against conquering Russia and fascist ideology”, Konjufca wrote.
“These elections will not be without influence even on our region, which the only path to peace and prosperity has the path of integration into the European Union. Many processes in the Western Balkans will depend on the EU's approach, clarity and readiness to promote its values of freedom and democracy in our region. An equal and fair approach to all will be essential to the eventual Europeanisation of our states”.
Therefore, being of this importance, European elections will be important not only to member states, but to all of us. Many Albanians who are citizens and justly vote in EU countries must come out and vote in this election for pro-European parties, but in particular to support Albanian candidates who today compete under the instrument of many European parties. Candidates like Muharrem Salihu, Adnan Dibrani and many other Albanians must have the support of our exile, as future representatives not only of the interests of our diaspora but also of our nation and states. By voting these candidates, we will take to the European Parliament representatives who will defend Europe's own principles and interests, because Albanian pro-Europeanism is in our national nature!”
