Chronicles from The Hague: Visit Hashim Thaci
In the endless prison corridors at The Hague, the atmosphere is bleak and cold. I am irritated by the noises of iron doors that open one after another. Like they want to slam my face -- there's a part of Kosovo's history and glory in here!
The President's mood and mood was exactly what I expected to see. On the 25th anniversary of the liberation, we talk about the past, the countless battles he and his companions fought in freedom efforts. We remember the sacrifices of our people, the shed blood of martyrs and martyrs. Hundreds of children whose dreams were cut in half by a genocide regime. I also told him about the little Leotrim who was perpetuated in bronze the day before in Skenderaj.
The conversation turns into the present. Despite challenges, the president of course, as always, speaks with conviction about Kosovo's bright future. His vision remains clear. His confidence in our people, steadfast. Despite bars, his hope and aura fill me with inspiration.
I also ask him about his friends: Chairman Wessel, Chairman Krasniqi, Rexhep Selimi and others. I see closely how the link between these men at The Hague, created in the fires of war, is very powerful. They take strength from each other.
We talked about the football championship. He told me he's following him as long as he can, and when he's got time. I asked who you're supporting. He told me.
Time goes too fast. As long as I'm ready to leave, I don't see a prisoner in the President's position. I see a statesman whose legacy cannot be tarnished by anyone and nothing.
On the way out, I remember the heroes and the invincible, the endurance of our people. Darkness and injustice are not new to us. But with faith, courage, and dignity, we will overcome again, just as we did 25 years ago.
Kosovo will be made because it is raised on the shoulders of giants.
President Thaci left me once again with an undeniable truth: The sun will rise again!
