Kosovo today marks the Day of Deliverance, a day that commemorates the end of a dark period and the beginning of a new era.
This day marks NATO troops' entry into Kosovo in 1999, following a 78-day air campaign that led to the withdrawal of Serb forces and the completion of ethnic cleansing and bloody conflict.
And this day one of KFOR soldiers who had served in Kosovo at the time, Kenneth Andresen, has remembered.
Andresen in a post at <x0X” has recalled the reception that KFOR had received on June 12th 1999 by thousands of people along the streets.
He added that this moment has changed his life.
“Today, 25 years ago: On June 12, 1999, KFOR arrived in Kosovo and was hosted by thousands of people along the streets. I served as a press officer with KFOR from July 1999 to January 2000. That changed my life. I'm grateful for all my friends and colleagues in/from Kosovo!”, Andresen wrote.
