Catalan party hands over to Parliament proposal that Spain recognise Kosovo

The Catalan Party “Junts for Citalunya”, which is represented in the Spanish Parliament, has submitted a parliamentary proposal to the parliament of Spain today, urging the Government of Spain to recognise Kosovo as an independent state. The Express newspaper has assured the Catalan party's proposal, which has backed the creation of the new Pedro Sanchez government, in which it is said that in support of efforts made by Kosovo institutions to protect the right to exist as an independent state, the Spanish state must give up its refusal position and immediately recognise the Republic of Kosovo.
“From “Junts for Catalunia”, we have expressed our position in favour of the necessary recognition of Kosovo as a sovereign state. We have also shown our support for the recent resolutions of the European Parliament, and specifically the last two of the 1920s, which call on the five European Union member states to recognise Kosovo now and allow Kosovo to progress on the European road without further delays on equal grounds with other candidate countries. And the show of concern for the fact that some member states are using institutional means to complicate the integration process in the region, including that of Kosovo.
For this reason, but also in support of efforts being made by Kosovo institutions and people to protect their right to exist as an independent state, the Spanish state must give up its refusal and immediately recognise the Republic of Kosovo”, the document said.
The no legislative proposal is named “MP's Congress urges the Government to recognise the Republic of Kosovo as sovereign state”.
In a conversation for Gazeta Express in December 2023 when the creation of the new government of Spain was discussed, the party of catalyna leader Carles Pudagemont had warned that they would search Parliament for the government of Spain to recognise Kosovo as a state.
As chief of his staff, I can tell you that we have always pursued the Kosovo issue with great interest and have always asked the Spanish government to fully recognise Kosovo and an independent nation. In this new parliamentary mandate, we will insist once again that Spain recognises Kosovo, but let me say that the president's political party, Junts for Catatlunia, is not part of the Spanish cabinet. We give support to this government only from outside and do not have the capacity to decide on the issue of Kosovo recognition by Spain”, Puidgemont staff chief Josep Alay had said.
This request of “Yunts for Catalunya” comes a few days after Spain has recognised Palestine as state.
