Bytyci Witness: Yesterday, the prosecutor disturbed me with some unverified information that came up in the media.

Nuhi Bytyci is continuing today with testimony in the court case against Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi. He said yesterday prosecutor Matt Halling has upset him with some unverified information that has come to the media. He even said that in Kosovo media it is [...]

He even said that his testimony during yesterday in the courtroom has been distorted in Kosovo media. However, the 71st witness added that caution must be taken that the accused is not punished based on un verified information.

I fired a little bit because yesterday prosecutor Halling bothered me with some unconfirmed information in the various media that I had no knowledge of until yesterday. So, I ask you to focus my work on my journalist, the events I've been following, and the information confirmed by me. Yesterday, for example, in the Kosovo media came out of my testimony, from a piece of my testimony turned out ten thousand Serb civilians were killed. I have claimed that over ten thousand Albanian civilians were killed. Such mistakes can be made by journalists and the media. Therefore, be careful that people who are accused are not punished on the basis of certain unverified writings or information”, the witness said.

After that, the chairman of the court, Charles Smith III, said that often things that were not said are printed.

Deputy, please try to answer the questions the prosecutor asks. If there is a problem with questions, decide whether the court will ask. We also don't control what the press publishes. Often things that we have not said are printed. So please, as long as you can, try to answer the question that the prosecutor chooses to ask”, Smith III said to follow up on the prosecutor's questions.

Otherwise, on yesterday witnesses were introduced to several headlines of international media in which they talked about an incident in the Great Bardhin in which it read that members of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK) had taken control of a coal mine in the village of Whitedh the Great and that nine Serb miners had taken hostage.

Therefore, there were objections to the defense of the accused, saying this incident was not mentioned at all in the indictment, and that the prosecution is trying to involve the accused in such an incident.

Nuhi Bytyci said such a document was not presented earlier by prosecutor Matt Halling.

After that, the witness said this is an unacceptable provocation to him in order for the prosecutor to put him on trial before the court, reports “The Justice Act”.

I wasn't introduced until this moment in conversation with prosecutor Matt. It's an unacceptable provocation for me to be thrown into madness before the court and opinion. That document, for the first time I saw it today”, the witness said.

It is noteworthy that in this area, the witness had conducted footage where the accused were present when this area was under KLA leadership.

Otherwise, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, on September 30th, 2022, has handed over the confirmed amended indictment against Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi, which consists of ten points of charges, where the latter are charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity.

On April 29th 2022, the Specialised Prosecutor's Office had handed over a amended indictment to Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselin, Rexhepi and Jakup Krasniqi, where four indictees have committed war crimes even in Gjilan, Semetish Budakov

On November 9th 2020, in their first appearances, Hashim Thaci's Jakup Krasniqi has been declared innocent of the charges placed on them. Wessel has also been declared in his presentation on November 10th, as has Rexhep Selimi on November 11th.

The incident against Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselin, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi is confirmed on October 26, 2020. /Betimy for Justice
