Bugayski: Fear of escalation of conflict in the Western Balkans is Russia and Serbia's psychological tool to weaken US

Janusz Bugayski, journalist and connoisseur of political developments in the Western Balkans, wrote in a recent authorial article about Russia and Serbia's role in spreading fear in public discourse on the possibility of escalating conflict in the region, in trying to undermine stability and weaken the determination of the United States of America (SHBA). [...]
“Escalaphobia, irrational fear of escalation of conflict has become a psychological tool used by Moscow and Belgrade to weaken US determination and gain advantages for their expansionist policies. In reality, an exaggerated fear of provoking armed conflict has the exact opposite effect”, Bugajski wrote.
Bugajski named the “great punishment” American President Joe Biden's administration strategy, especially the American attempt to draw Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, into western orbit and away from Russian and Chinese influence. He even added that the Biden administration encouraged Serbian ambitions in the region, giving up recognising Kosovo.
Vucic's “spokeswoman intensified Serbia's ambitions, removed the US from allies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo and Montenegro, and helped open the door to the destructive Russian and Chinese influences. The US has less confidence in the region than at any time in recent history, while the softening strategy has reversed much of the advances achieved since 1990”.
Otherwise, the Serbian state is often praised as a highly seized, highly problematic state, not only for the Western Balkans, but also for the US itself. Also, Serbia's European future prospects remain unclear as it continues to pursue unfavourable policies towards regional stability. /Albanianpost/
