Speaking of negotiations between Serbia and the EU, the ambassador said that in the report on Serbia's progress from November 2023, it is written that there are no remaining transition criteria and that the European Commission recommended opening the chapter.
Katty Bugenhout recalled that Serbia's government has been working on a technical mandate from the December 2nd elections, which means that “has realistically had no legislative work during the first four months of 2017, during which Belgium heads the EU Council.
There is still no consensus on the Council at the moment, because we have not seen any changes”, Katty Bugenhout said.
In the case of elections for the European Parliament, she said there has been shown no change in fundamental values and that the EU will continue to function in the same principles it is founded on. Another impression is that central parties stood firm.
