US President Joe Biden has apologised to his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky for the delay earlier this year in adopting the new military aid package, which was held by the republican opposition in Congress.
Beden apologised as he announced a new aid package for Ukraine at a bilateral meeting with Zelensky on Friday, CNN writes.
You know, you haven't bowed down, you haven't given up at all, you keep fighting in a way that's just extraordinary and we won't leave you”, Biden told Ukrainian president.
I apologize for the weeks that I didn't know what was going to go through, as far as funding was concerned, because we had trouble getting the bill we had to approve of some of our very conservative members holding it, but we made it”.
Beden took advantage of the opportunity to announce Friday's financing announcement, as well as the additional funds that were raised to Ukraine since it signed the supplement in April.
