Association project, says Lajcak: I would never propose anything I would not propose for my country

The EU's Emisari for the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, speaking of the Association of Serb-run municipalities' Association of Serbs, has said he would never propose anything that Slovakia would not propose either. In an interview for Sbunker within Podcast “Cosovo Dispatch”, Lajcak has said that there is reason to fear [...]
I like the discussion that's based on fact. So it's really good to talk about what's in the document. And you know, some important countries asked the Government of Kosovo to submit this draft to the Constitutional Court, which is certainly the best way to see how much this document meets constitutional requirements”, Lajcak has said.
So this is certainly, I would say, a logical proposal for Government. So there is no reason to be afraid of this document, because as I said, we would do and I would personally never propose something that I would not propose for my country, or that I know it would not meet European standards, European values and European practices”, has added further to Slovak.
In this interview for Sbunker, Lajcak also talked about the history of the Drafts that were released in Brussels. Sllaku has mentioned the draft management team, saying he had been acceptable neither to the Kosovo side nor to the European Union.
So there have been several works produced by think groups like Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, for example, but there are only two proposals officially submitted. The first is the text proposed by the so-called Management Team. This was introduced in last May 2nd of last year's dialogue. But from the essence, from the content, this proposal was not acceptable to Kosovo and in many respects it was not acceptable even to the European Union as a facilitator, because our principle is that whatever we agree to meet European standards and the best European practices”, Lajcak has clarified.
The EU's emistry says that seeing the situation that the parties would draft any documents for Association, in co-operation with the EU and the US, was intended to assist the process and parties by drafting the Association statute.
“was a very elaborate, long and very laboring process, with the support of renowned international legal experts and experts in the field of protection of minorities, including Council of Europe experts and legal experts from the United States, Germany, France and Italy”, Lajcak has said of Sbunker. /Express
