Experts and legisaries from the University “Johns Hopkins”, Edward P. Joseph told Voice of America that Kosovo institutions must repair relations with Western allies by meeting the requirements that have been put forward.

Lack of support for joining the Council of Europe is the last example of difficulties and uncertainties surrounding the consolidation of Kosovo's position in the international community, as well as relations with its allies.

Knowledgeers of developments in Kosovo told the Voice of America that Kosovo and its allies must reconsider the current strategy, which focuses on dialogue and agreements coming out of it.

Experts from the School for Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, Edward P. Joseph says Kosovo leaders should give up divisive policies with the international community and the Serb community in Kosovo.

The Kosovo government should focus on protecting Kosovo's strategic interests, advancing them, and not on some political interests that divide and polarise society and create a populist climate, exacerbating relations with Kosovo Serbs and adding tensions with them. It's a completely wrong approach. The dinar case was a gross mistake. Total Fiasco. There are other provocative actions... and they have to end. The Council of Europe is an important opportunity and Kosovo should not lose it”, Says Mr. Joseph.

He estimates that relations between Kosovo and the United States are at the lowest point and that it is not in Kosovo's interest to handle its relations with key allies carelessly.

“This is the lowest point in relations (between two countries). I've been engaged in the Balkans since 1999, when managing refugee camps in Stankovec... We've worked hard and we know how hard it was. US-Kosovo relations are not only political technical relations, they are a deep link that continues to have political consequences. Putin and Xi Jinping still talk about 1999 and NATO intervention have not forgotten. It was a big step the United States took to intervene. And to see these relationships treated in such a careless way to get some points that we don't seem to need to listen to the United States anymore. Why? The US is not the dictator of Russia's type, which is trying to undermine Kosovo's sovereignty. The United States is supporters of Kosovo. It's not in Kosovo's interest. In this complex and dangerous world, Kosovo needs powerful friends and they must be respected”, Says Mr. Joseph.
