The American Embassy in Pristina has reacted after US Ambassador to Serbia Chrisopher Hill's statements.
In a response to Tv1, it is said that the US's stance on dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has not changed.
Until, the embassy has said it continues to support the EU-led dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia to achieve a normalised relationship.
“We continue to strongly support EU facilitated dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, as a way to achieve a normal, peaceful and productive relationship between the two countries. The future of the two countries is in European institutions; normalising their relations through the process facilitated by the EU is the only way ahead of”, said the embassy's response.
Otherwise, she said she expects Kosovo and Serbia to respect their dialogue commitments, without delays or preconditions.
“We expect Kosovo and Serbia to respect and implement all their dialogue commitments fully and without delays or preconditions. The long-term goal of the United States' policy is bilateral eventual recognition between Kosovo and Serbia. The United States recognises Kosovo as a sovereign and independent state, as we have known since 2008”, the embassy says.
