Albania's police and Kosovo Police will organise joint road police services on the territory of the Republic of Albania during June-September 2024.
Joint patrol services will be based on the Co-operation Memorandum, signed in Tirana by leaders of the two police officers.
The announcement made to the media says the <x0mmorandum of co-operation highlights the importance and need of co-operation between the two police agencies in the field of road traffic, preventing violations and increasing road safety”.
It comes as a result of the fact that, during the June 2024 period, there is a significant increase in the number of citizens from Kosovo who come on holiday to the tourist areas of Albania, as well as a number of Kosovo road vehicles that circulate in the main road axes linking both countries”, the Albanian police community said.
On the basis of the memorandum, relations will intensify and co-operation between police will be strengthened through planning and implementation of joint plans and measures.
Concrete co-operation will be aimed at:
- Prohibiting administrative violations in the area of road traffic
-The seat of road events and rigorous implementation of road legislation;
-Creating a safer environment for all citizens and street users, moving around on the road to connect the two countries.
In Memorandum it is determined:
-The application and exchange of the best street police practices;
- Heading police services to discipline the movement of road users and preventing road accidents;
R-growing road safety parameters for road users;
-Rule of road traffic and application of administrative sanctions to punish traffic violations.
During the signing of the Memorandium of Co-operation, the leaders of both police highlighted that, experiences of past years in implementing joint road patrol services have been positive and will serve as a basis for co-operation in the coming months.
