Many cities in Albania, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia have faced power cuts on 21 June.
The Transmission System operator (OST) in Albania said that the causes of power cuts have been high air volumes and extreme temperatures, which have caused defects in the interconction line with Greece.
“Defecti has started from the interconction line with Greece and has subsequently proceeded effectively throughout the country”, saidST through an announcement, adding that measures are being taken to restore electricity for all consumers, the REL reports.
The power distribution system in Montenegro announced through a Facebook post that there are power cuts and that almost the entire country is without power.
Meanwhile, the director of the Electrical Energy Company in Republika Srpska, Luka Petrovic, told Radio Free Europe that the reason for the power outage in almost all of Bosnia's territory is due to a “problem in Montenegro's energy network”. Authorities in Republika Srpska said they expect the energy situation to stabilise quickly.
Croatia also announced that some parts of the country have faced power cuts, while Croatian authorities, together with counterparts in neighbouring states, said they are analyzing the cause of the electricity outage.
From the Kosovo Electricity Supply Company (KESCO) have confirmed to Radio Free Europe that there are no problems with electricity supplies in Kosovo. Power problems have not been reported either in Serbia and Northern Macedonia.
In recent days, Kosovo has faced temperatures of over 35 degrees Celsius. / REL
