Ahmeti V MRO-VLEN does not represent Albanians' legitimacy from May 8th elections

The European Front parties, led by the Democratic Union for Integration (BDI), approved on Sunday in Tetovo, as they called it, a declaration against “monoethnic governance” in northern Macedonia. DUI leader Ali Ahmeti said the new parliamentary majority among the winning election party, V MRO DPMNE, and coalition V LEN, which consists of four Albanian parties, “does not represent Albanians' legitimacy” from the May 8th parliamentary elections.

VMRO DPMNE and Coalition V LEN is expected to form the new Macedonian government in the coming weeks.

In the May elections, the European Front has won four more parties of other entities, four more than V, four out of them. LEN.

Ahmeti claims that in elections in northern Macedonia, the race takes place between parties of the two largest ethnic groups and that election winners in the Macedonian and Albanian communities should form new institutions.

” Consistent to implement consensus democracy in line with the spirit of the Ohrid Agreement and the Constitution of Northern Macedonia... The ruling coalition partners should be determined by the political will of the two largest communities in the country -- Albanians and Macedonians -- as well as the legitimate representatives of other communities expressed in free, fair and democratic elections. This is the customary right implemented in our country, enabling legitimacy, functional democracy, social cohesion, consensus and fair representation in decision-making”, Ahmeti has said, reading the declaration adopted by the European Front parties.

But V LEN says DUI cannot claim to the legitimacy of the Albanian vote, as part of the European Front were four parties of other entities in northern Macedonia that won votes on behalf of the coalition in parliamentary elections.

“Disrespecting legitimacy enables the etabation of ethnic hegemony and presents humiliation to Albanians, Turks, Roma, Bosniaks and others. This monoethnic majorization violates the legitimacy of other ethnic communities, burdens co-existence, democracy and should not be allowed by all of us”, Ahmeti has said.

He has said that with disrespect of the vote's “legislation means going back, undoing the current common achievements” so he called on this not to happen after we all have responsibility for peace, security, stability of the country and our region”, as “said.

DUI chairman said that the declaration signed Sunday by the European Front “to do so is sent to international deployment centres Brussels, Washington, London, Paris, the countries of the region, with the aim of increasing attention to what direction the Ohrid Agreement reached with sacrifice and blood in Northern Macedonia” is in.

In northern Macedonia until 2017, there has been an unwritten rule for governments to be formed by the winning Albanian and Macedonian parties, despite their programming orientations.

The Democratic Union for Integration, as the winner of Albanian elections, has been part of the government, both with the LSDM and VMRO DPMNE, which won elections at the Macedonian electorate.

This rule has continued until 2017, when the government was formed by the LSDM even though it had lost its election to the Macedonian electorate.

It managed to form parliamentary majority with Albanian parties' votes, and then formed Government, leaving power V MRO DPMNE-led by Nikola Gruevski at the time.

After that, the V MRO DPMNE has sometimes indicated that the <x0-winner rule with the winner” will no longer be worth it. /rel/
