Through a joint media conference, they have called on the Government to withdraw from this bill.

AGK Board Chairman Xhemajl Rexha has prompted this bill to withdraw and not be adopted in second reading, while criticism concerns the majority executive. These two have not taken into account remarks from civil society and the international community.

The purpose of this conference is to express our dissatisfaction with the KPM law because as you know today in the order of the day is the second-read adoption of the bill for The KPM, which has already been publicly part of civil society, has expressed our frustrations and the remarks with which this law has been adopted. As AGK we have said several times that civil society has no longer been involved in key phases of drafting this law. The Kosovo government, the ruling party has not been interested in talking to all actors who are an important part of the media industry to talk to him about the law as best I can, even though there is the right time at the disposal of”, Rexha said.

The media lawyer, Butterfly Kusari, has said that the key consequence of this bill is to reduce media pluralism”.

We invite the Vetevendosje Movement not to vote on this law and draft it through a working group as the Council of Europe has requested. The government's original goal was to control the media online through the KPM, and when it saw that it was legally not possible, it proposed a certain census, but it's so badly regulated as to cause legal chaos and will not function”, Kusari said, as online media described it as a success story.

If this bill is approved, the media council will be weakened at a moment when there is good internal reform”, she said.
