The chief of deputies of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Besnik Tahiri, has said that forming the Association of Serb majority municipalities does not link with Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe.
The Council of Europe membership is now with me on the Committee of Ministers, which will be held on May 16th and 17th. What we know is that voting at the Parliamentary Assembly and recommending for Kosovo membership is clear. Association there is no condition, however, the Committee has the right to extend the invitation to Kosovo” to the discretion, Tahiri has indicated.
He has said that Kosovo's membership in the KiE is extremely important and paves the way for membership for the European Union.
“Kosovo must join the KiE is the natural step towards European integration is the next step so EU membership cannot be taken before KiE membership occurs. Membership in this institution greatly strengthens international subjectivity and in fact equals 46 other states which are members of them 14 are not familiar with us”, Tahiri has declared.
And to complete the whole process, Tahiri says it's in the hands of the Government and that lawmakers have done their job.
The government must remember that this has been a long process that decision-making links in this process have not been easy, especially in the Parliamentary Assembly. You know that in Paris we've done everything possible that the vote is happening, then we've worked in the parliamentary assembly and this is a process that doesn't dare to be jeopardised, Kosovo needs to see what this should do is now in the hands of the Government, the Parliament has done its job. The only thing we say to the Government is to be careful and not harm Kosovo at this moment that is quite vital for Euro-Atlantic integration and strengthen its international subjectivity, Tahiri has declared. /EO
