Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak called the general election on 4 July, announcing a 6-week campaign that could lead his conservative party to lose power after 14 years.

Why Sunak called the general election now?

United Kingdom is starting to come out  which saw the significant increase in basic goods prices when Russia invaded Ukraine two years ago. Sunak's message to the country is that the economy is on track and only his party can ensure stability. Many analysts expected elections to be held in autumn, perhaps in October or November, but Sunnak seems to believe that prospects for his party are unlikely to improve from now on, and perhaps he hopes the element of surprise will allow it “t) steals spring” Labusist Opposition Party, led by Keir Starmer.

What happens next?

Sunak has been granted permission by the king to make the “parliament”, a right officially held by the British monarch, though in fact it is a prime minister's decision. After May 30th, the current parliament will formally cease to exist, and MPs will become candidates who will have to convince voters to re-elected. The ministers will continue to carry out their duties until the new government is formed.

Is Sunak likely to lose?

Of course, if polls come true: Keir Starmer's Labusist Party has held a considerable advantage over conservatives for months, and most experts expect a relatively comfortable victory for Labusists. Sometimes, however, campaigns may change the outcome, as in 2017, when the conservative prime minister Theresa May called the elections while leading in the polls, but lost after a catastrophic campaign. She then had to govern in partnership with the Northern Ireland Democratic Union Party (DUP).

What are the main issues?

Both sides claim to be able to provide economic stability, although labists speak of the chaotic period of direction of Sunac's predecessor, Liz Truss, during which mortgage rates rose and prompted voters to ask whether they should still keep the conservatives in power. Labusists, whose main slogan is “, Maka”, will also focus on the state of public services, especially in the National Health Service, where waiting lists have increased significantly.

Both sides will claim they are tough on illegal migration. Sunak has repeatedly promised “to stop boats”, But labists argue that his plan to send people who come to the United Kingdom from illegal roads to Rwanda is costly and unrealistic.

How are other political parties expected to move?

The Liberal Democrats, led by Ed Davey, who was minister in the government 2010-2015 in power along with the conservatives, hopes to challenge Sunak's party in a series of countries south of the United Kingdom. The Green Party, which has only one deputy in Westminster, hopes to win another country, in the town of Bristol, except the one in Brighton, after having a good performance in the recent local elections.

The Spanish National Party, which campaigns for Scotland's independence, is now the third largest, with 43 deputies. But after a turbulent period that recently saw its leader Humza Yusuf to resign as the first minister of Scotland, Labusists have high hopes of winning seats in Scotland.

What happens on election day?

The polling stations open at 7: 00 a.m. and close at 10: 00 a.m., where most voters personally participate to mark their preference by pencil and place the paper in a plastic ballot box. At the closure of the polls, a poly extex is published, which seeks to accurately predict the outcome. Results from each electoral zone begin to emerge throughout the night as local officials count ballot piles. By morning, there are clear signs of who the winner is.

What happens next?

If labists win elections with a full majority, Starmer will move quickly to announce a new ministerial team, with a series of important challenges to confront almost immediately, including the organisation of a major European summit at the Blansheim Palace on July 18th.

Will Sunac remain MP if he loses the election?

He says yes. Asked last week, the prime minister said he wanted his home in the Richmond Yorkshire electoral zone where he built an internal pool and would stay to represent his voters. But many in Westminster expect that, like David Cameron, who promised to stay behind the Brex referendum and resigned quickly when he lost, Sunak would leave parliament if he lost 4 July. Sunak and his wife, AThis is Murray., they have a property in California where they met and he spoke warmly of US entrepreneurial culture. ©The Guardian
