It could be moved to the hospital in the Slovak capital, Bratislava after that date, according to them.
Fico, who was shot four times with a firearm on May 15th, is able to speak a little, and his health has improved since he was attacked because his injuries put his life in danger.
Local media reported on Friday that doctors will assess Fico's situation on May 20th to decide whether he can move to the capital hospital.
Fico, a veteran politician in Slovakia who returned to become prime minister for the fourth time after his party Smer won the elections last September, had emerged from a meeting of his government in the town of Handlova, nearly 200km northeast of the Slovak capital, when an armed man approached and shot him.
The attacker was politically-motivated “”, Deputy Prime Minister Robert Kalinak, who is also Fico's defence minister and close ally at his Smer party, said on Thursday.
Local media reported on Thursday that the suspect in the assassination against Fico, who was arrested at the scene shortly after shooting guns, is charged with attempted murder.
The suspect's name has not been disclosed, but media report he is a 71-year-old man.
Slovak President Zuzana Capuova called on Thursday to stop “the violent hatred” that has engulfed Slovakia.
We need to get out of this cycle of violent hatred and mutual accusations. What happened yesterday was an individual act, but the tense atmosphere of hatred is our joint work”, she said. / REL
