Slovak prime minister's wound Witness: I heard three shots.

A witness to the wound of Slovakia's prime minister, Robert Fico, has said she heard three-four shots and saw Ficon fall to the ground. The Witness said she saw wounds on her head and the prime minister's chest.

Once in the official vehicle, Fico was flown to a local hospital, television reports BBC.

Several members of the security forces are seen, detaining a suspect near the cultural centre in Handlova town.

Slovakia's outgoing president, Zuzana Capuova, said she is shocked by the “brutal and ruthless” attack against the prime minister and wished him power to heal.

Fico returned to power in Slovakia after last September's election as leader of a populist and nacitist coalition.

In January, he suspended military aid to Ukraine.
