Former Kosovo chief diplomat Petrit Selimi has said Kosovo's real challenge in the matter of membership in the Council of Europe remains the position of leaders of France and Germany, given the pressure of these two countries on the Kosovo government for the need of rapid steps in establishing association as the precondition for membership in the KiE.
According to Selimi, Montenegro and Northern Macedonia are not a challenge for Kosovo in terms of membership opportunities in this organisation despite pressure from Belgrade to neighbouring states.
“Montenegro or Northern Macedonia is not the challenge of Kosovo's KiE. Both are supporters of Kosovo, despite electoral changes and trying influences from Belgrade. The recent challenge, and perhaps the only one for Kosovo, remains the position of Paris and Berlin. We are witnesses every month and every day that the Kosovo government does not enjoy any trust in these two allies in terms of normalisation and dialogue. The ruling coalition in Kosovo controls the government, the Parliament and the Presidency, and there is no excuse for such extreme and damaging failures, in communication with Quint”, He said in an answer to the national.
