The US Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina strongly responded to threats by Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik that he would initiate a proposal for the peaceful division of BiH.
“Day, Mr. Dodik announced that the Republika Srpska government made an official decision to propose Republika Srpska's secession from Bosnia and Herzegovina. In other words, it means RS secession; The irresponsible, anti-Dayton action that jeopardises BiH's territorial integrity, sovereignty and multiethnic character”, says the American Embassy's announcement.
The embassy added that Dodik and the Government of Republika Srpska tried to explain this decision with several sets of lies and dezinforms created to intimidate the public in Republika Srpska and send them on this dangerous path.
“Pages are simple and clear. There is no international conspiracy to abolish Republika Srpska, and Mr. Dodik cannot single out a single statement by any US official calling for the abolition of RS. BiH is not a union of two entities, it is said explicitly in the Dayton Peace Agreement and according to the BiH Constitution, BiH is a successive state of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, the American Embassy added.
Dodik's activities, the US Embassy emphasises, endanger the future within Euro-Atlantic institutions that want Bosnia and Herzegovina citizens, including RS.
