Parliamentary elections and presidential elections (second) are held in Northern Macedonia today.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's Vetevendosje Movement competes in parliamentary elections in neighbouring state, in the coalition of Albanian opposition parties with acronym V LEN. LVV has three candidates for MPs, including Bekim Qoku, the prime minister's adviser.

In the presidential election, VMRO- candidate The DPMNE for president of Northern Macedonia, Gordana Silianovska-Davidkova has been staunchly leading in the first round of presidential elections against Stevo Pendarovski, current Macedonian president from LSDM, who ranks second. They face a second round of voting today.

For the election of the new president, an estimated 750,000 voters are due to appear in the elections, which is that voters of candidates who were eliminated in the first round are needed.

Support of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti did not kill Arben Taravari, the VLEN presidential candidate, who on 24 April had to face defeat in the first round of presidential elections in northern Macedonia. In the race he actually had with Bujar Osmani the coalition candidate The European Front led by DUI, he was firmly defeated. The difference between them was approximately 400,000 votes.

Today's elections will pave the way for the formation of the new government by the winning party, which will have to secure the needed 61 votes. V MRO-DPMNE, the party led by Hristjan Mickoski, is a favourite in the polls.

Ali Ahmeti's DUI, the largest Albanian party in the RMV, has publicly failed to stand to support any candidate for president or to extend an invitation for a boycott.

Meanwhile on the other side, at Coalition V headquarters. LEN went on Monday to Macedonian opposition leader Hristjan Mickoski, who met with Arben Taravari.

The Kosovo government was engaged in the election campaign in northern Macedonia to help Taravari and VLEN.

About two weeks ago, the Government of Kosovo made it a topic to discuss a 9-point plan proposed by the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSBE) in June of last year for the extension of the situation in northern Kosovo, after Bujar Osmani, who had headed this important organisation, had shown in advance how he contributed to the extension of the situation in Kosovo, compiled that plan himself.

Kosovo Government spokesman Korypziu accused the candidate for president of RMV of seeing Kosovo with the eyes of internationals.

This help of the Government of Kosovo in the election battle there did not fail to exploit Taravari, who wrote how Osmani has done to Serbia “archy <x4x1> and how well the Kosovo government has done according to him that “has not accepted the Brad Osman” plan, as with it, Vucic's “would have found no resistance.

Osman had reacted later, targeting what he called the “electoral games”.

Beyond that, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti was scheduled to attend coalition V gatherings personally. LEN in Cyril and Berlin before the first round of presidential elections. But he argued that “the many tasks and tasks in Kosovo”, and the “continuing threats from the northern neighbour” were impossible to attend. Instead, Justice Minister Albulen Haxhiu took him.

Through a video message, he ordered that the presidential elections be voted massively, while saying that our “Republic, but also the Western Balkan region in general, needs a political factor in the Republic of Northern Macedonia, which in these times of daily and systematic confrontation with aggressive Serbia, will be Kosovo's strong wing, in support of peace and security, the prosperity of democracy <x1.

I welcome you all, especially my friend and your president, Dr. Arben Tavarar, who is my friend from time to time and I trust him both in orientation and in character. New energy is welcome on the Albanian political scene for many reasons. It is still worth it, especially in situations we are experiencing and living in now. Success on Wednesday elections, and on every day of work and vacation”, Kurti said.

Earlier, he denied that he was involved in the election race in Northern Macedonia and by Skopje had said LVV did not race and that Albanians should decide on the president's issue on their own, but later brought V representatives to Pristina LEN, with whom they agreed that the next president in Skopje should be Albanian.

“The leaders expressed their proposal for a president of North Macedonia, who embodys co-existence between ethnicities and guarantees the European route of Northern Macedonia, the president who will this time come from the middle of Albanians”, was said in the communique issued by the prime minister's office on January 30th.

Tavari had admitted a few weeks earlier that Kurt had encouraged him to race for president of northern Macedonia.

For not many LVV coalition officials with Albanian opposition parties in northern Macedonia, Izet Mexhidi for the first time announced the chairman of the Democratic Movement at the end of last year. This announcement had come several months after Kosovo's prime minister had offered this support even physically during a very controversial visit to the RMV in the summer of 2023.

The Northern Macedonia government is led by Talat Xhaferi of DUI, who has become the first Albanian to take office.
