The Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo today will hold the plenary session starting at 11:00.
As it became known days ago, in the order of the day there is a review of the draft resolution to address the findings of the US State Department Report, UNK, as well as voting on several international agreements.
On April 22, The UN released the Kosovo Report, where, among other things, the judiciary's independence problems and restrictions on media freedom were the main concerns for Kosovo.
The report noted that in 2023 no major change has been reported in terms of the human situation in Kosovo.
Government corruption and the threat of violence targeting ethnic minorities and marginalised communities have also been mentioned in recent reports.
The government has taken creditable but inconsistent steps to identify, investigate, try and punish officials who may have abused human rights”, Reporter.net said in the report.
The opposition had demanded that the Assembly session be introduced earlier in the order of the day discussion concerning the US State Department report.
The Democratic Party proposed this after saying this report is disturbing for Kosovo and should be treated at the session (last Thursday).
One such request was made by the Democratic League and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, but from the ruling party demanded that such a session be held another day.
VV parliamentary group chief Mimoza Kusari-Lila proposed that this report, but that Freedom House be discussed in a special session of the Parliament.
Therefore, days later the session was scheduled for May 2nd.
