Slovakia's Prime Minister Robert Fico has been injured Wednesday by a man who fired four bullets in his direction near the Cultural House in the Slovakia City of Handlova.

Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, who congratulated Ficos, has also reacted to the attack.

I wish Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico a quick recovery after today's shameful attack. We strongly condemn these acts of violence that threaten European values”, it has written.

An official from Fico's Smer party confirmed to Guardian that the prime minister was shot in the womb and is now operating.

European leaders have responded to the attack.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz has written that this attack is a coward “atate” against Ficos.

The afraid assassination of Slovak Prime Minister Fico shocked me very much. Violence should have no place in Euopian politics. During these hours my thoughts are with Robert Fico, the relatives and citizens of Slovakia”, wrote Scholz on X.
