Is there any official demand for distribution of the Parliament possible for the opposition?

Parliamentary groups failed to agree on Monday to call a parliamentary session for the distribution of the Kosovo Assembly, though the whole opposition has long called for the country to go to new elections. During a meeting of the Parliamentary Party's Headship of the ruling Parliamentary Group, Vetevendosje (LVV), Mimoza Kusari-Lila, said there is no formal requirement for the distribution of the Assembly.
There is only demand for the ruling debate, expected to be addressed Friday. This is the AAK Parliamentary Group proposal, with which they have also proposed the collapse of government. We do not support and, of course, consider that there is no reason to vote in favour of this bid”, she said.
Government mandate ends in early 2025, but opposition parties have long sought to hold early elections, naming it “harmful to the country”.
Kusari Lila said they are not afraid of going to the elections, but added that unity of the opposition is needed to make that possible.
While the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) supports the distribution of the Assembly, the other two opposition parties -- the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) -- want new elections through the dismissal or resignation of the government of Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
Abelard Tahiri, chief of the PDK Parliamentary Group, said September should find Kosovo with the new Government, but acknowledged that there is a lack of compliance with it.
Until now, we are still not in a situation where we agree between parliamentary groups, so that the country can go to early elections”, he said.
The head of the AAK Parliamentary Group, Besnik Tahiri, insisted that Kurti's government assume responsibility, as he said, its “failures” through resignation.
“The depletion of the Assembly at this stage implies an exit to Kurti Government, in some form taking blame from the Parliament for the government's failure. Disproportion should come only when we dismiss an harmful government only when it resigns, but in no situation should Parliament assume a responsibility that does not belong to”, Tahiri said.
Last week, Prime Minister Kurti held a meeting with Memli Krasniqi, the PDK chairman, with whom he talked about the new elections.
After the meeting, Kurti said the elections would be good to be held in spring, or autumn of this year.
The other two opposition parties -- the LDK and the AAK -- declined to meet Kurti on the issue.
But Kurti has also held a meeting regarding the election issue, with the leaders of the two smaller parties, which are part of the current government: Donika Gervala and Faton Pecin from the Guxo party, and Mimoza Kusari-Lila from the Alternatives.
For the distribution of the Assembly, the collection of 40 signatures for the motion must then be voted on by 80 lawmakers.
Since Kosovo has become an independent state in 2008, no elected government has completed its four-year mandate. / REL
