Prime Minister Albin Kurti received Qatar Minister for Social Development and Family Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al Mandad at the meeting.

The prime minister's office says Kurti “speaks highly of the visit he is making to our country to Minister Al Menad, while expressing his gratitude for Qatar's support and contribution to Kosovo, both in its membership in international organisations and other co-operation programmes in the country”.

“During the meeting, friendly relations between Kosovo and Qatar were praised, and talked about boosting co-operation between the two states on the economic, trade and institutional plains. A special emphasis on the meeting was on social welfare programmes. Prime Minister Kurti announced to Minister Al Menad with the social assistance system in Kosovo, while mentioning piloting social assistance scheme reform that began this weekend and whose lessons will also be reflected in the new Social Protection Bill”, the report said.

“Under support measures, the prime minister singled out additions to over 55 thousand lechos and over 400,000 children, who testify to the improved economic situation and strengthened the financial position of women in Kosovo. As a result of these additions, about 100,000 women in Kosovo for the first time have opened bank accounts”, said the announcement further.

Within future co-operation, the ZKM says mutual interest “was expressed in the area of digitisation of services and social support system”.
