Through a post in his Facebook account he has criticised the Kurti Government after according to him the government has introduced Kosovo “through sanctions and conditions, as a result we lose the opportunity for membership in the Council of Europe”
“Now a total of 11 years, the political class has found no way to implement this obligation to the Association of Serb Majorities, for more has turned it into population and electoral card. In their power battles, they are hanging on the necks of the challenging, stalled state, sanctions, conditions like this of membership in the Council of Europe. This irresponsible political behavior, very soon one day, can lead us to isolation. More radical measures to force and ensure that states respect their obligations. We can distort public discourse, live and make populist policies, accuse internationals, cower as if the opposition parties are doing. But the political and geostrategic moment has never been more favourable for Kosovo than today to join the Council of Europe”, Kryeziu has written among other things.
Ismet Kryeziu's full delivery:
The government has introduced Kosovo amid sanctions and conditions, as a result we lose the opportunity for membership in the Council of Europe.
At moments when you do not implement international agreements, then these obligations are changed into conditions and sanctions by other states and international organisations as the obligation to fulfill obligations made as a state.
Now a full 11 years, the political class has found no way to implement this obligation to the Association of Serb-run municipalities, for more has turned into population and electoral card.
But the political and geostrategic moment has never been more favourable for Kosovo than today to join the Council of Europe.
And you can't just fatify the current government tomorrow because you're part of this failure. No opposition stance that I have heard articulated and committed for the Kosovo government to send the drafttave to the constitutional court, as opening the possibility for membership in the Council of Europe.
You're all talking about the consequence, but none of the causes and why we lose this membership opportunity tomorrow on March 16th.
