Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi has announced that today, he has sent from a letter to Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Albin Kurti, the chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, as well as Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Chairman Ramush Haradinaj.
In this letter, Krasniqi has reaffirmed the position of the Democratic Party of Kosovo for the need to hold early general elections.
“In the last meetings I've held with each leader of these parliamentary parties, I have expressed the position that elections today are a civic imperative and not a political desire, so now it is time to act co-ordinated and with concrete steps”, Krasniqi has written.
He has said that Kosovo and our citizens need a new government that focuses on economic development, civic welfare and Euro-Atlantic integration.
The new elections are essential to creating a functional framework that is in the service of civic interest. The Democratic Party of Kosovo has proposed June 30th or July 7th for holding early elections, and because of legal and constitutional deadlines, to reach one of these dates, the procedure for distributing the Kosovo Assembly would have to be voted away by May 29th. So, even today, I invite all parliamentary parties to co-ordinate and co-operate for the benefit of our citizens”, Krasniqi has concluded.
