Democratic Party of Kosovo Chairman Memli Krasniqi has said today is a bitter day for Kosovo and its citizens, as she failed to join the Council of Europe today.
Krasniqi has said that instead of “s demonstrating a success that would strengthen democracy, rule of law and our citizenship, and for what has been worked long, today we are witnessing the loss of support from our international partners”.
“This Government, this power, without excluding any of the responsibilities of state institutions, failed to finalise an almost done job. His support turned into ignored. Belief in disappointment. And the secure future of our citizens has turned it into a high political bill that they should pay the same”, Krasniqi wrote.
Also, he has said that access to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, where the principles of justice of the European Bill of Human Rights -- which is also ignored within the Constitution of the Republic of Kosovo -- would be of great benefit to citizens and the state of Kosovo.
“After Russia's expulsion from the Council of Europe in March 2022, like the PDK we immediately insisted that Kosovo initiate procedures to become part of this organisation, giving our unscathed support to every step of this process. Unfortunately, today, two years later, when everything was ready after we had secured the support we needed, because of the complete inability and the extreme responsibility of our government, this opportunity was also lost. Worse still, such a case we do not know when we will be again”, he added.
Krasniqi has said that Kosovo citizens today have every right to feel indignant and unrepresented, because they and the state of Kosovo have deserved more and better.
“To The PDK, the road to the European integration of our state is irreverent. Our dedication to justice, democracy and full rights for every citizen of Kosovo remains steadfast. Therefore, going to early elections, creating a new government, creditable, competent and responsible, which removes Kosovo from isolation and directs it from safe Euro-Atlantic integration. Today, even officially this power has lost its legitimacy. The state needs citizens and they must say their word!”, Krasniqi has finished.
