The resolution has voted 84 states, 19 against and 68 abstained.
In this regard, the Human Rights and Freedoms Council reacted today.
KMDLNj stresses that this is great because it addresses responsibility for crimes in Srebrenica correctly, although there are no legal effects.
With the initiative of several states, the United Nations approved a resolution with which July 11th is declared the International Genocide Memorial Day that took place in Srebrenica. Although this resolution does not produce legal effects and is not binding, for human rights it is a major achievement for the fact that it clearly names the crime in Srebrenica as genocide by correctly addressing responsibility for this crime and others in the spaces of the former Yugoslavia as being a moral satifation for victims in Srebrenica and all other victims in the spaces of former Yugoslavia”, it is said in response.
KMDLNj further points out that the marking of this day on the United Nations calendar as the commemoration of the Genocide in Srebrenica strengthens and preserves international historical memory of terrible crimes identified with Genocide at Srebrenica.
The adoption of this Resolution KMDLNI considers it very important not to forget the past and a message to those planning crimes in the future that these crimes will not remain uninvestigated and unpunished, even morally. KMDLNj hopes and expects that, in the near future, the Resolution for Genocide in Gaza and Ukraine” will be adopted, it is said further.
