Israeli Military Forces (IDF) have announced the opening of a new humanitarian relief transfer to the Gaza Strip in co-ordination with the United States.
“In line with the Israeli government's directive and in co-ordination with the American government, the northern Gaza Belt area opened the Kadim Stablen Erez (Western Erez) for the transfer of humanitarian aid to Gaza Belt”, IDF said in the statement Sunday.
The IDF said it is part of the “effort to increase the assistance routes at the Gaza Strip, and in the northern Gaza Strip in particular”.
This came after the Israeli Army on Saturday ordered the immediate evacuation of several other neighbourhoods in Rafah, where it intensified operations in front of an anticipated ground offensive.
About 300 thousand people have already left the southern city of Gaza, reports CNN, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
According to the UN World Food Programme on Friday, southern crossings to the Gaza Strip have not seen aid in three days.
Egypt said on Saturday it would not co-ordinate the entry of aid from Rafah Pass, citing security concerns.
