In two plenary Senate, Kosovo's Assembly has approved most international agreements, including the military framework agreement with Turkey.
Ratification of international agreements had been put on hold for a while due to lack of enough votes.
Under the law in Kosovo, international agreements can only be ratified with the votes of two-thirds of MPs.
According to the Government of Kosovo, the agreement with Turkey envisions co-operation, among other things, in peacekeeping, humanitarian and anti-terrorism operations.
This agreement envisions co-operation in these areas: military exercise and education, industry and defence, exchange of military intelligence, military medicine, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations against terrorism and other”, Agriculture Minister Faton Peci said, until he justified the agreement in absence of Defence Minister Ejup Macedonia.
Two of the international agreements did not receive the necessary support of MPs during the May 16th plenary sessions: The treaty between Kosovo and Denmark for the exploitation of the correctional institution in Gjilan with the aim of executing Danish sentences, as well as the loan agreement for the public finance programme and economic growth between Kosovo and the OPEC Fund for International Development.
With the support of MPs from opposition parties, approval was achieved, among other things, of the Law for the ratification of “the 3th financial agreement between the Republic of Kosovo and the European Union for the 2015” programme.
Lawmakers also supported the deal with the European Bank on the Blackwater Treatment Project in Ferizaj.
According to the Government of Kosovo, this agreement amounts to 20m euros.
Also, the Assembly adopted the Law on Access to Kosovo in the Convention on Temporary Import.
MPs also approved the Law on International Agreement with the European Union in what is called the single market programme.
At the May 16th session, the international agreement with the International Development Association was approved.
Opposition subject, the Democratic Party of Kosovo announced 15 May that it will vote on international agreements, just a day after the party's leader, Memli Krasniqi, held a meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
International agreements amount to 300m euros, Finance, Labour and Transfers Minister Iron Murati said earlier.
At Thursday's session, which continues what was held on May 2nd, there was a draft resolution vote on addressing the findings of the US State Department report.
At the request of the ruling Vetevendosje Movement, the vote was postponed for another session, since, according to them, “resolta is not complete”.
“We require more time for [the harmonisation of positions] to meet resolution”, said Vetevendosje Movement parliamentary group chief Mimoza Kusari-Lila.
