“Meta has activated new functions... 27 panels, from one for each state, to allow the citizen discours of third parties and to monitor the” elections, a Commission spokesman has said.
Last month, the European Commission has launched an investigation into allegations of violations of EU rules on Metas' part, saying Facebook and Instagram have failed to fight disinformation and advertising with fraud.
The European Commission has said it will monitor the company's new functions, as formal procedures against Metas continue to be implemented.
The European Parliament elections will be held on June 6th-9th of this year.
EU chief Ursula von der Leeyen is also aiming for a term at the helm of the European bloc. REL
