The European Union has said that Kosovo and Serbia have not reached any agreement on the dinar issue, which has produced cramps between the two sides.
That ship according to the EU, even though they have submitted a compromise proposal to adapt to both sides.
“To find a sustainable interim solution for people most affected by the Kosovo Central Bank's arrangement for cash operations, the European Union, as the mediator of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, hosted seven rounds of meetings with Kosovo delegations and Serbia between February 28th and May 15th in Brussels”, the report said.
“During these meetings, the parties widely introduced their positions and looked into opportunities to find common ground. The EU gave ideas and proposals throughout the process, and the parties managed to overcome some of their differences in order to ensure financial flows from Serbia to Kosovo, including the agreement on establishing a new business entity under Kosovo law, tasked with the provisional distribution of financial aid from Serbia”.
“However, despite the EU submitted a compromise proposal that adjusted the positions of the parties to the maximum extent possible, the parties could not agree on several key issues, including the overall extension of the new entity's activities, the scope of beneficiaries of this entity, and financial assistance from Serbia to Serbia-backed institutions in Kosovo”.
Today's last “testified that the parties were unable to find a compromise solution to remaining open issues. The EU expresses regret that no agreement can be reached today. The EU estimates there is no willingness to find a compromise agreement in the future”.
The lack of a agreed road ahead has negative consequences on the daily life of Kosovo Serbs and other communities throughout Kosovo and a continuing source of concerns”.
