EU Ambassador to Kosovo Tomáš Szunyog, on International Press Freedom Day, visited the Association of Kosovo Journalists (AGK).
During a meeting with AGK representatives, the EU ambassador stressed the crucial role of free and independent media in the public's ability to make decisions and hold those in power responsible.
He stressed the <x0mperation of removing barriers that could undermine media freedom, and expressed concern about increasing the number of physical attacks, threats, public pollution campaigns and hate speech to journalists, especially during the 2023 report from Kosovo's north”.
The EU Office's announcement of this meeting reportedly also spoke of the importance of verifying facts in easing the negative impact of the dezinforms and the draft law on the Independent Media Commission, which the EU is closely following.
