Kosovo Economic Ode Chairman (OEK) Lulzim Rafuna, inflation has said, is on the decline in both European Union countries (BE) and Kosovo, and that in the following months, according to their projections, it is expected to have stabilised product prices and lower bank interest rates.
He has said that the rise in product prices also affects the fact that Kosovo is dependent on import it does from different states.
Rafuna has said that citizens are facing the high prices of agricultural products for the fact that in our country at this time these products are not cultivated but that they are imported by other veines.
The money in agricultural products is changing seasons and we import at this time because it's not yet the time when our products are cultivated for that reason even more expensive. As far as inflation is concerned, inflation is on the decline, not only in Kosovo but also in EU countries. We also said at the beginning of the year when we presented the OEK report, but our projections have already seen that this year there will be reductions of inflation, but there will be reduced interest rates of banks. That it is good news for citizens too is good news for businesses. So by the fall of inflation, we believe many that will go down the price as well, because according to today's dynamics, according to today's dynamics, according to the indicators we have today, there is not expected to be an increase of inflation or an increase of the” prices, he said.
He has said that with the approach of summer months, prices will go down.
And we believe that even our expectations are that as summer months approach, prices will go down. We are importing from Turkey even from other agricultural products that is not the time now that is cultivated in Kosovo. As the next months approach will begin, so will our other products that go on the market, and prices start falling”, he said.
The OEK chairman has said that first of all, it is expected that this stabilisation of prices is due to inflation and falling prices, but according to him, if prices do not fall, the responsible institutions should intervene.
“First, there will be price stabilisation due to inflation decline, because there is no inflation logic falling and prices rising. There's no reason if that's what we really need to do with the inspectorate and the competent organs to see. But I say with full responsibility that OEK members are very careful about their clients, and they never once happened to overload the priced consumer who is not reasonable. So we've known a lot of times we've said that we're dependent on import, we haven't started to cover it with imports yet, and so the more inflation has gotten, the more we import inflation. It means we're importing inflation for this reason even prices are higher. But with inflation declining, not only Kosovo, but also in EU countries should the prices fall, and our expectations are that prices are going to fall”, he has said. /EO
