The former head of the Appeals Court, Hasan Shala, has criticised Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, saying he is giving statements that are intervention in the justice system.
He mentioned Enver Sekirrasse's case, which he said could not generalise the entire system for the mistakes of individuals.
It is intervention when the prime minister opens the Government meeting and says whom the justice system wishes. The system has not failed with the Sequirah, a judge of a jury has tried, and the Court of Appeals has improved that ruling. The judicial council has taken disciplinary measures against the judge... The justice system is venerable, as if the court's appeal were not to act, then it's something else. Our justice system in the region is the best”, he said.
He also said Kurt is trying to capture the justice system.
With the very fact that it says the justice system has failed, it has fought to capture the justice system to bring its people... We have direct interference of this government, when they have issued the law for public officials, for salaries, the law for the prosecution council, the constitutional treaty has been found in the justice system”, he said.
Otherwise, Kosovo's Special Prosecutor has also made a response to former Prime Minister Albin Kurti's statements concerning war crimes cases.
Kurti said on Thursday it has been five years since our justice institutions have been enabled to prosecute and try war criminals even in their absence, and according to him, there is still no result.
The Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo expresses deep indignation at Prime Minister Kurti's continued inefficient approach to the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo over war crimes cases.
“Special Procurory strongly points out that Kosovo's prime minister's continued comments on the work of the Special Prosecutor are in full opposition to the constitutional principles of the division of powers and international standards for judicial independence. So, as such, undermine public confidence in the work of the State Prosecutor in general and the Special Prosecutor in particular”, it says in response.
