“Call Center” network hit in Europe, including Kosovo

An international operation has been finalised on April 18th, 2024, in Albania, between the Special Prosecutor and German foreign authorities, but also agencies like Eurojust or Europol. In the fight against computer fraud crimes, through centers (Cal Center).

The investigation was launched in December 2023, after German police prevented a possible fraud attempt of over 100,000 euros. Of the criminally structured group's telephone numbers, it has resulted in more than ten thousand cases of fraud, with damage to over 10 million euros. German investigative authorities described the fraud scheme as one of the biggest frauds in Europe with Call Center.

The investigation identified the two addresses of Call Center, as well as the suspect's address as head of these centres, citizens of E.S. Also, according to the SPAK, this network of frauds had extensions in Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Bosnia, Hercegovain, as well as Lebanon. Under the decision of the Special Court, on the 1804,2024, there has been an area that was suspected of the activity of call centres, and the residence of the person suspected of leading this activity in Tirana.
