Albania will produce weapons and ammunition. A defence ministry bill paves the way for initiative through the establishment of a state society that will control this sector.
The first call for the establishment of this infrastructure in Albania made Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, in February of this year during his visit to Tirana, while the Albanian government did not oppose him.
Proposal to restore military industry is argued with the geopolitical needs of time, where weapons supply has become necessary for NATO and the countries it supports in war positions.
In addition, commitment to empowering such an industry can also be seen as a profitable activity for the country's economy, Euronews.al writes.
The established state society is expected to restore former plants to function and integrate new technologies into weapons.
This will not be the only investment in the field of defence, as a 10-year-long plan aims at increased mobilizations in the military and establishment of several military bases.
