She has said this has happened to the vote and the report that recommends Kosovo's membership in this organisation.
Self-declared Kosovo is not ready for membership in the Council of Europe. Voting in support of the so-called Kosovo is a disgrace to the Assembly, which has confirmed its commitment to violating international law standards and destroying the foundations of interstate relations in Europe. It should be stressed that self-declared Kosovo is totally unprepared for membership in the Council of Europe and has no right to do so because, according to the statute, only independent states are accepted into this organisation, which Kosovo is not”, Zakharova said.
The Council of Europe, after accepting the application from Kosovo, has sent several dominant lawyers to the country that have made a assessment of the functioning of democracy in Kosovo.
Their report says that Kosovo meets all conditions for membership and that it has a functional democracy.
