Security sources told BBC Ukraine that eight other planes were severely damaged and 20 people from service personnel could have been killed or wounded.
Morozovsk base has Su-27 and Su-34 aircraft used on the front line in Ukraine, sources said.
There has been no comment from Russia on reports of an attack at the airport.
The BBC, which reported the news, says it has not been able to verify the reports independently, broadcast newspaper Express.
However, Russian officials said more than 40 fears were directed to the region, which borders Ukraine.
Russian military analyst Pavel Aksyonov says an attack by so many fears in a short space of time could have defeated air defence.
The Russian Defence Ministry said the Saratov, Kursk, Belgorod and Krasnodar regions were also targeted.
In Rostowi's Morozovsk district, an electricity substation was hit, leaving about 600 people without power for several hours, said Rostov Mayor Vasily Golubev in his TV channel.
He added there were some injuries in a 16-floor residential building.
In a later post, he said eight people were injured by explosives that erupted in one of the fears dropped during an investigation at the site “not far from theerodrome”.
Ukraine has stepped up attacks on targets within Russia recently, targeting military and energy objects.
She has repeatedly warned that her army is facing major ammunition shortages, but has set as a target the production of a million risks within the country this year.
