The Turkish Foreign Ministry warns that the war in Gaza could escalate following Iran's attack last night in retaliation for an Israeli attack on its embassy in Damascus earlier this month.
“Today, we are clearly communicating our messages to Iranian leaders and Western countries that have influence over Israel, calling for halting escalation”, the ministry said.
“We will continue to work to prevent a process that will irreverently damage the stability of our region and exacerbate global conflicts. ”
The ministry added that all developments are being monitored closely, Al Jazeera reported, broadcast newspaper Express.
Earlier, a Turkish source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Reuters news agency that Iran informed Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan of his planned operation ahead of the attack.
