“Unfortunately has stalled”, Pahor's spokeswoman confirms preparation of project for continuation of dialogue

Former Slovenia President Borut Pahor, the candidate for the European Union's special envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, is preparing a draft for continuing negotiations between Kosovo and Serbia, Borut Pahor's spokeswoman, Spela Vovk, has said. “In the context of his candidacy to send the EU special to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, [...]

“In the context of his candidacy to send the EU special to the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, Borut Pahor is working on preparing a draft plan for further successful implementation of dialogue, which has unfortunately stalled”, Vovk told Vijesti.

She stressed that Pahor, before completing the draft, wants to consult with European Union for Foreign Policy and Security High Representative Josep Borelli, EU members and representatives of the QUINT states.

With the support of Prime Minister Robert Golob and diplomacy chief Tanja Fajon, Borut Pahor is Slovenia's candidate for special EU envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina.

There are several EU special envoys, and they work at the Office of the EU High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy, which is currently Spanish politician Josep Borey.

EU special envoy for dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina currently holds Slovak diplomat Miroslav Lajcak, who is leaving this year for the new post of EU ambassador to Switzerland.

Special envoys are appointed by member states with the EU High Representative's proposal for foreign policy. That is why Pahor needs the support of the EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Security and support of member states. As has already been warned, Pahor must have Borel's support.

On April 18th and 19th, in Ljubljana, Borut Pahor hosted the first “Ministers of the Western Balkans, attended by Miroslav Lajcak, the EU's current special envoy for dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

Former presidents of Bulgaria, Austria and Serbia attended the conference, as did Filip Vujanovic, former Montenegrin president, as well as other high-ranking officials supporting EU enlargement in the Western Balkans.

“I would like to see an official engagement by both the EU and the Western Balkan countries that they are willing to do everything necessary to meet that goal,” he added.

At the “Western Balkan Friends' meeting” from Montenegro, in addition to Vujanovic, Milica Pejanovic Djurispi and Igor Luksic participated.
