A 16-year-old boy was arrested after a bishop, a priest and attending the church were attacked during Mass at the Assyrian Church of Christ The Good Shepherd.
At least four people have suffered injuries <x0 not life threatening”, police say. Even the attacker has been injured, reports the BBC, broadcast Clankosova.tv.
Australian police define terrorist acts as ideologically motivated. Investigations are still under way, but they say they are convinced it is a case of religious extremism.
Authorities have repeatedly refused to declare the alleged assailant's religion.
Graphical videos of the attack were spread and the consequences were spread like fire in social media on Monday evening, drawing an angry crowd towards the Assyrian Orthodox Church, which is about 35 miles [35 km] southwest of downtown.
There crowds of hundreds of people fought violently with the police, who were guarding the church where the attacker was being treated.
