Is there room in the overriding social media market for another slightly different app?

Right now we have apps that are mostly texting, we have apps and networks for photos and videos, and AirChat is focused on voice. Even though apps were introduced during the pandemic in which the dominant mode of conversation is the voice (& Clubhouse), they still did not rise and attract a sufficient number of users.

The team behind AirChat, which includes investor Nadal Ravikant and Tinder's former Bosnianist Brian Norgaard, believes there is a market for voice-focused apps.

They believe that the voice is a much more intimate medium than textual communication, so passion can be conveyed to messages, unlike the common text “people are designed to agree with other people, and that requires only a natural voice explained”.

The app itself is similar to the view and the interface with many existing social networks. Users can post content, follow other users, such as their content, etc. and can send direct messages to other app users.

But instead of introducing the text, the focus is on the voice, so that the announcement should be said, and users can hear it in AirChat, but also read it. So the application will automatically convert text speech to situations you don't want to or you can't listen to other users' messages. But the point is, you can't write, you just say.

This app was introduced for the first time at the end of last year and recently re-enlisted and available to Android and Apple phone users, but only to those with an invitation.

The number of users is increasing and it will be interesting to see how many users will continue to use it, and who will just try and then erase it from the device, while it's still necessary to remember the clubhouse, which was once a very popular app and now almost no one will ever mention it.

Also, on the Fast Company page, we are reminded of competitors who appeared after receiving Musk's Twitter. Although they had a huge media chase and many Twitter users, that is. The current X platform reported that they are abandoning that social network and aiming to address several alternative solutions, Mastodon had only 1.5 million active monthly users at the beginning of the year, while Jack Dorsey's Bluesky figures are slightly better and reach about two million users.
