Russia hits hotel in Ukrainian Black Sea city

Early Sunday morning, Russian fears hit the Black Sea Mykolaev city, setting a hotel on fire and damaging the area's energy infrastructure. This development was announced by the local Ukrainian governor Vitaly Kim and comes in a period of shortages in ammunition that are continuing to hinder Ukrainian troops' progress in [...]

Mr. Kim said Russian drones “heavily damaged” a hotel in the region's capital, triggering a fire that was later extinguished. He added that the attack damaged infrastructure providing heat for the city, but did not provide further details. The attack caused no casualties.

The Russian State Agency RIA wrote that the attack on Mykolaiv was targeted by a shipyard where marine fears are assembled, as well as a hotel where, as it claimed, housed <x0m>mercenare English-speaking” that fought for Kiev. At the RIA announcement, Sergei Lebedev, who is known as the co-ordinator of the pro-Mosca local guerrillas, was quoted as saying. His claims could not be verified independently.

Also Sunday morning, the Russian Defence Ministry said 17 Ukrainian fears had collapsed overnight in four regions southwest of the country. Three fears were hit near an oil depot in Lyudinovo, an industrial town about 230km north of the Ukrainian border, said Governor Vladislav Slipsha.

One of the Ukrainian drones damaged communication infrastructure in Russia's southern province of Belgorod, bordering Ukraine, Governor Vyachaslav Gladkov said later Sunday. Authorities reported no casualties.

Russian attacks Saturday and night, dawning Sunday, injured at least seven civilians across Ukraine, according to officials in the country. A 36-year-old woman was taken out of the ruins after Russian missiles destroyed her home Sunday morning in the northeast region of Kharkiwi, local administration representatives announced. Her 52-year-old neighbour was rushed to hospital because of a stomach wound.

The Dunnetsk and Kharkiev regions have faced fierce clashes in recent weeks, while Russian forces are seeking to progress along the frontline of more than 1,000 miles [1,000 km], while shortages in ammunition have increasingly hampered Ukrainian protection.
