Three young people arrested in Germany, suspected of planning terrorist attacks

German authorities have arrested three young men, aged 15 and 16, under suspicion that they had planned deadly terrorist attacks on the western German state of North Rohine-Westfalia, prosecutors said Friday. The National Antiterrorism Central Office had issued a warrant for arrest for three young people during the Easter holiday.
The detainees are a 15-year-old girl from Dusseldorf, a 15-year-old boy from the Markischer Kreis district, and a 16-year-old girl from the Soest suburb, located about 100km east of Dusseldorf.
According to investigators, they are accused of agreeing to commit murder and senseless murder, as well as of preparing a series of violent acts that endanger the state.
According to the German news agency, The DPA, young people had established a group for online talks, but had not compiled concrete plans for the timing or location of the attack.
Authorities have also conducted raids during investigations against them, according to the DPA.
Investigators “saw danger” in their preparations, despite lack of a specific attack plan, according to DPA sources./rel/
