The chairman of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Lumir Abdixhiku, has reacted after today's murder in Pec that shocked the country, where Ukelli was killed. Suspected in murder is her husband.
Abdixhiku has said that the killing of women in Kosovo has taken on disturbing proportions, until he has invited law and security bodies to act responsibly and uncompromis against today's case and not alone.
We cannot expect the cycle from violence to reaction, until the next fatality normalizes. Childicide in Kosovo dares not become a common thing; and no statement today can bring Ukella's life back.
I invite all law enforcement and security to act with responsibility and disproportionism towards today's case and not only. The state must be a shield for women. Their lives can't remain for survival”, Obadiah said.
In addition, Abdixhiku has said the LDK will consider any institutional opportunity to freeze discussion about institutional decision-making to prevent such cases.
“From the ease of possession of firearms, to the reactive state of our institutions, to the housing conditions of women seeking protection, and to the deignive language to women; we have numerous problems and insufficient actions”, Obadiah said.
