Kosovo's Ministry of Internal Affairs has said ten members of the Kosovo Police are among the detainees at the Merdar border crossings, Jarinje, Dheu the White and the border between Croatia and Serbia.
The ministry has announced that five have been released, and five more are still on hold.
The relevant “Institutions are in the process of providing accurate information to clarify the situation created, but from what we possess so far, there have been 10 members of the Kosovo Police (Albanians and Serbs) that have been banned at the Merdar border crossings, Jarinje, the White and the border between Croatia and Serbia. 5 of them have been released while 5 are still on hold, including Deputy Director Jankovic”, MPB has announced.
The ministry has added that since the Parliamentary Assembly's approval of the report recommending Kosovo's membership in the Council of Europe, vehicles with Kosovo citizens have been targeted by Serbian authorities.
Our “citizens have been closed in the offices of the authorities of Serbia for hours and by different persons have been interviewed for their eventual participation or ties with the Kosovo Liberation Army or the war in Kosovo... This act of Serbia, banning the movement and torturing our citizens for over 20 hours indiscretion of age and gender, violates any human norm, and above all, is a flagrant violation of the agreement on freedom of movement between Kosovo and Serbia”, has added further.
The MPB has indicated that without any clarification from Serbian authorities, Kosovo Police Deputy Director Dejan Jankovic is being held by breakfast. According to MPB information, Jankovic has been sent to the Race “and acknowledging this recurring practice of Serbia towards citizens and police officials, the same is interviewed by various Serbian state acts”.
The “call on Serbia's authorities for the immediate release of all citizens and members of the Kosovo Police detained without any reasoning and in retaliation for the Republic of Kosovo. Meanwhile, we ask the entire international factor to strongly condemn this behaviour of Serbia against the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo. Such acts have been made over and over again by this state for which we refocus that in Serbia's prisons there are already many citizens who are unjustly held for the same motive towards our country”, he has said further.
